Standard car, non-standard history!

I went to see a #Standard Nine #Selby Tourer, sold “new” in 1929 – but was it a pre-production model from 1927?

A young Peter Grove bought the 9hp car in 1964, and his workmates at Massey Ferguson (who’d worked for Standard) said it had all the hallmarks of being the test mule they’d worked on.

Peter has since moved to Australia with it, restored it and drives it regularly north of Brisbane.

Plus, he has another car of mystery: a 1969 Rover 2000 TC, sold new to an Embassy, which looks to have had bullets through it!
